Ah-Zhe just bought the villa this year - four stories, an elevator, and a smallish rooftop terrace up top. Our crowd has been tangled together since we were in split-crotch pants, bickering all the way to now, every one of us an adult for years already - he does design, I sit in a cubicle at a foreign-trade company, and a few others are in grad school, rushing back from out of town for summer break. Whoever buys a place, the first thing they do is haul this pack of old troublemakers over to break it in. That third-floor home-theater-slash-karaoke room he sank a fortune into - the leather couch is soft enough to swallow you whole, and once the projector fires up, the sound waves rattle the floor slab numb.

They stuck me in the corner on that single armchair, knees pressed tight together, both hands cupping a wine glass on my lap. This is how I always sit around people who know me. Everyone says I am a good girl, have been ever since I was little - the aunties praise me, saying, “You can tell at a glance she was raised right,” and the guys tease, “She is the most well-behaved of all of us.” I just smile and do not argue. The words well-behaved are like a well-fitting old coat I have worn for too many years - take it off and I only feel cold.

The one Ah-Zhe poured me was supposedly some lychee-flavored cocktail, so sweet you could barely taste the liquor. I sipped it down mouthful by mouthful, my throat warming, my face slowly starting to burn. The lights were that low, warm-orange kind that traces everyone into softness. Someone stirred things up, wanting to play truth or dare - the empty bottle was laid flat in the center of the coffee table and spun with a “clink,” and everyones eyes chased the mouth of it around. I brought the glass back to my lips again, my heartbeat quickening half a beat for no reason.

I am the owner of this house, and also the one who has barely taken his eyes off her all night. Do not get me wrong - I know everyone in this crowd, know them well enough to name which time each of them took a spill as a kid. But she is different. She sits in the corner, glass held so properly, eyes curving into slits when she smiles, quiet as a painting that has hung for years - one you have long grown used to yet never truly understood.

The more a girl is the type everyone calls a good girl, the more curious I get about what is under the shell. No one is only one layer deep. When the bottle started spinning tonight, I actually had a bit of a wicked thought - I wanted to see whether, a few drinks in, this painting might start moving on its own.

The first time the bottle pointed at me, I chose truth. The one asking grinned wickedly: “In your phones photo album, which picture would you least dare show us?” The whole room roared. My face went instantly red and I shook my head, saying no, no. The alcohol hummed round and round in my veins, and it made that no ring hollow. The truth is, I knew exactly what I felt guilty about. But it was not in this phones album - it was somewhere else, a place where not a single person who knows me could recognize me.

I bluffed my way past it. But the bottle seemed to be sparring with me - after two more spins it stopped right at my toes again. This time it was Ah-Zhes dare: “Do you dare to show us a little of the side of you in your phone that nobody else knows about?” He said it slowly, but his eyes were fixed dead on me. I do not know whether the liquor lent me nerve or whether being watched by those eyes threw me into a panic - some unseen force made me - no, it was that sweet drink pushing open a crack in the door inside me, and I heard myself say softly, “...I have an account online that nobody knows is me.”

The whole room went dead silent for half a second, then burst into an uproar. But I did not laugh. I stared at her - after she said it, her lashes dropped, the base of her ears went red almost to transparency, and her throat bobbed once, as if she had frightened even herself. In that instant a string somewhere inside me was plucked: so this quiet painting had a whole backstage hidden away. The more she wanted to shrink back, the more I wanted to pry that crack open a little wider.

“What account?” someone pressed. She flat-out refused to say which platform, only bit her lower lip and admitted it was an anonymous social account - the avatar was not her, the handle was made up - “Just... I post a few pictures now and then.” Her voice dropped lower and lower. I leaned my body toward her and said, at a volume only audible up close, “What kind of pictures, good girl?”

I should not have drunk so fast. But the words were out, and there was no taking them back. Everyone refused to let it go, saying that by the rules of truth or dare, once you confess you owe an accounting - otherwise you forfeit and drink three penalty shots. Three shots and I would be lying flat here tonight. I clutched my glass, my heart pounding until my chest ached, yet in my head those photos surfaced strangely - the red bikini, in front of the bathroom mirror, the steam fogging the glass half-blurry; and that nightgown I love most, thin enough to show the lines of my body, phone propped low, capturing that stretch from collarbone to waist.

On that account, no one calls me a good girl. On the other side of the screen is a crowd of strangers who do not know who I am, only that there is a girl who posts these now and then. Every time a bold comment from a stranger comes in, a current both scorching and tingling rolls through my chest. It is the secret thrill of being watched, of being wanted, that I never dare admit to in real life. And now this group of old classmates who have treated me as a good girl since childhood are staring at me, pair after pair of eyes, waiting for me to push that door open a little further.

“Dare.” I made the decision for her, my voice not loud yet cutting through all the uproar. “You do not have to say which platform, do not have to show your face - just pull up the two you posted that you think are the boldest, and let us have one look. Once this round is over we turn the page.” I looked at her and added, word by word, “Do you dare?” I knew I was pushing her. But I knew even better that beneath the flicker of hesitation in her eyes, what was pressed down was not pure refusal. It was the wish to be seen.

My fingers trembled on the screen. Switching to that secret album, my fingertips went ice cold while my mind burned scalding hot. I turned the phone sideways and held it out almost with my eyes shut - the first, the red bikini, in front of the bathroom mirror, chin tucked low, the steam draping the whole photo in a haze; the second, that see-through nightgown, one shoulder and a small stretch of waist bared, the light falling very soft.

The phone passed from hand to hand among the several of them. I did not dare look at a single face, only stared hard at my emptied glass. But I could hear their breathing change - someone sucked in a breath, someone cursed low, “Holy shit, is this really you?”, and someone said nothing for a long while. That scalding shame of having a hidden side caught red-handed by people who know me shot from the soles of my feet all the way to my scalp - yet strangely, right there inside that scald, deep in my lower belly something quietly clenched and went weak and aching. So being stared at like this by people who know me was a hundred times more thrilling than all those strangers on the other side of the screen.

When the phone made its way into my hands, I did not rush to look at the photos - I looked at her first. She had buried her face in the crook of her arm, only a pair of scarlet ears showing, shoulders trembling faintly, yet she had not actually snatched the phone back. That was enough. I glanced down at the two photos, then lifted my eyes to her again, and as I handed the phone back my fingertips grazed the back of her hand, so faint it was almost nothing. She shivered. Everyone else thought this night had turned the page. Only I knew that something had only just begun.
